Research
We have found that the stimulation of delta- and mu- opioid receptors in combination, and delta receptors alone, leads to specific pharmacological responses that suggest unique treatment approaches to a variety of medical conditions. Our expertise in the area of delta receptor chemistry and pharmacology has enabled us to identify a novel delta receptor mechanism of action for each of our development compounds.
We are using our discoveries regarding mixed delta/mu receptor pharmacology as the basis for our acute and chronic pain programs. We are also leveraging our knowledge of delta receptor pharmacology to advance the use of selective delta receptor agonists for our programs in urinary incontinence, premature ejaculation, depression and cardioprotection. We are expanding our research to include other therapeutic areas where selective delta receptor stimulation may be beneficial.
